Academy Courses

These programs are exclusive to the Colt Academy:

Quantum Leap is an integrated honors curriculum designed for the college bound student who is motivated and academically successful. Quantum Leap offers a research class, which also has a rigorous academic curriculum that seeks to develop skills in critical thinking, communications and learning. The classes rotate approximately every 10 days between two research teachers.

Critical Thinking Skills provides students with the skills needed to pursue their interests. Students gain an understanding of the careers available to them within a multitude of fields. This class gives them the knowledge necessary to investigate opportunity and leads students to a precise career focus.

JROTC has the only flight instruction class in the district. This class is offered to students after successfully completing three years of JROTC. Students become familiar with pilot training, aviation opportunities, aircraft systems, aerodynamics, and navigation. Upon completion of the course, students will be prepared to take and pass the Federal Aviation Administration written examination putting them well on their way to receiving a private pilot's license. Students interested in becoming pilots or pursuing a career in aerospace will find this course challenging and exciting.
