JV Colts Basketball
Post-Season Report
The young Colts struggled this
season as inexperience and tough district competition provided a huge
learning experience for this hard-working group of guys.
With district powerhouse teams such as,
Ely, Piper, Boyd Anderson, Coconut Creek, Douglas, and Taravella, Coral
Springs found out what high school basketball is all about. In District
11-6A, there are no nights off, and from the opening tip, you better be
ready. These type of “battle-tests” were an excellent opportunity for our
young players to learn on the fly how hard you have to play to be able to
compete in this league.
The outlook is very positive heading
into the off-season, as the core of talent returns for another year of JV
Basketball. Big men John Chiari, Ethan Young, and Richard Lucas will be the
beef up front, as we look to strengthen our inside post game and defensive
presence around the rim. Guards Kesnel Jean and Marvin Monuma, returning
Captains for the Colts, will continue to improve in defensive leadership and
physical play at both ends of the court. Returning point guards Avery Hall
and Matt Geisen round out the returning players from last year’s squad, as
both quick guards have continued to excel with their ball-handling skills
and defensive ball pressure.
The 10-week Spring Off-Season program will consist of 3 phases as we look to use this valuable time of the year to enhance our physical composition along with the team’s basketball IQ. Weight training, conditioning, and individual fundamental breakdowns will be specifically designed for each player within the framework of the team.
Commitment and hard work will mark the
difference between this season’s record to next season’s.
The Spring Off-Season program will
begin Monday, March 6th.
